Brontes, a robot cast in stone, the very stuff of ancient human architecture, stares down at a primitive stone tool which is essentially the first version of himself. Brontes is more than a machine, he is the latest incarnation of the ancient maker spirit. He embodies the continuum of human invention while silently questioning the very nature of progress and the consciousness of the tools humans create.

The figure is crafted with authentic stone, ochre and a polymeric matrix to achieve a rough, weathered stone texture, blurring the line between ancient mineral and modern machine. The stained concrete acts as a physical metaphor for an ancient time, its rock-like appearance grounding the robot in an almost geological past.
